Object Character Recognition (OCR) is the process of extracting data from a scanned document or an image file and converting it to machine-encoded text that can be edited and searched. OCR technology is a field of research in pattern recognition, artificial intelligence and computer vision, and the data extracted using OCR can be used in processes like cognitive computing, machine translation, text-to-speech, key data and text mining.
